When kids learn to walk we celebrate and cheer them on when they fall down to encourage them to keep trying. But at some point in our development we start behaving as if falling down in the worst thing that could happen to us. We believe this so deeply that we start celebrating not falling which leads to not trying new or difficult things, and in turn we limit our development of the key life skill of resiliency.
